Commencement Ceremony Information

Student Arrival and Seating

Student Check-in Location

  • The ceremony will begin promptly at its start time.  Students can start arriving to the Dome/McLeod Center at two hours prior to the ceremony.  We will line up 30 minutes prior to the commencement start time.
  • Graduates should enter at the west door of the Plaza with the granite panther statue between McLeod and the UNI-Dome (west side).
  • Your family and friends should follow the instructions below for guest arrival and seating, and they should not enter at the graduate entrance.

Guest Arrival and Seating

Other than students graduating and members of the faculty, guest seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. While there is not a limit to the number of guests who can be in attendance, we encourage students to remember a seating ratio of approximately six guests per one student. Tickets are not required for the General Public Seating areas.

Special accommodations seating is available. You must request a ticket for the accessible seating area.  This can be done by submitting the Request for Special Accommodations Seating Tickets WebForm. Please limit your ticket requests to the specific individual(s) in need of special accommodations and a family member to assist as necessary. Special accommodations tickets will be sent out in early December/April. Special accommodations seating for guests will be on folding chairs on the concourse level of the McLeod Center and there will be room for wheelchairs.

Family and friends of graduates should enter the north or south entrances of the McLeod Center. See the areas highlighted below for entrances to the McLeod Center.
